Motels & Hotels Near Victoria Airport and Saanich Peninsula

My listing of hotels near Victoria Airport includes all those in the region of Greater Victoria known as the Saanich Peninsula (or just "the Peninsula" to locals). It includes the town of Sidney as well as parts of Saanich, Central Saanich and North Saanich. This is a relatively vast area stretching approximately 25 kms. You can not walk to downtown Victoria from these properties. There are no hotels immediately adjacent to the airport. There are however accommodations that are reasonably convenient to the airport (YYJ), BC Ferries and Washington State Ferries (Anacortes Island), as well as popular tourist destinations such as the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, Butterfly Gardens and the world renowned Butchart Gardens. Note the Washington State Anacortes Island ferry has been out of service since 2020 however is expected to return in the future.

If you are looking for romance, The Beacon Inn at Sidney just may be the choice for you. The Beacon Inn at Sidney was built in 2001 in an Edwardian-inspired style. The Edwardian style is an era of architecture influenced by Georgian and the Arts and Crafts movements. The paint colours, furniture and draperies of the Beacon Inn reflect the time period but the modern amenities will remind you which century you're in!

The Inn features nine guest rooms all named after one of the Gulf Islands or one of the San Juan Islands and feature luxurious feather beds.

Guests at the Beacon Inn enjoy local attractions such as the Mary Winspear Centre, a local performing arts venue who have hosted the performances of artists such as Simon and Garfunkel, Aaron Pritchett, Chad Brownlee and many, many more.

Another highlight of the area is the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea. The Centre is an aquarium and learning centre that focuses on the ecosystems of the Salish Sea which are the waters surrounding Greater Victoria. With a mission of creating experiences that engage people to learn about, explore and conserve the Salish Sea Bioregion, they do that through tours, school programs and summer camps. You are invited to explore the Centre and learn about the wildlife, waters, land, culture, and people of the Salish Sea.

The Beacon Inn is also conveniently located near the BC Ferry Swartz Bay terminal, Washington State Ferries and the Victoria International Airport.

The Inn is about a 30 minute drive to Victoria's downtown and inner harbour. Public transit is also available. For just $5 enjoy a day pass to travel throughout the region.

Guest Comments

Overall the majority of guests at Beacon Inn at Sidney rate the cleanliness, staff and property condition to be excellent and they were pleased with the charming ambience. They found the feather beds extremely comfortable and generally quiet and peaceful. Some guests were disappointed that the windows didn't open (I love fresh air to sleep so this might be a deal-breaker for me!). There was mixed reviews on the quality of the breakfast although my guess is that not everybody knows what to expect with a continental breakfast which is typically pastries, baked goods, fruits, toast and coffee. It really is a pretty vague term but at least it's usually enough to get your day started.
